Sword & Scabbard
Why a sword and a scabbard
Excalibur is the sword of legend.
One part of that legend is rarely told.
Merlin asked Arthur a question.
“Which is worth more, the sword or the scabbard?”
Arthur said the sword.
Merlin said no.
The scabbard.
As long as he wore it, no wound would ever bleed.
Arthur later lost the scabbard, and his final battle left him mortally wounded.
A sword wins the battle.
A scabbard brings you home.
That sword is not ours.
The sword is what you want built, and that call is always yours.
Ideas stall for one reason: there is nowhere to run them.
Work stops for lack of a scabbard, not a sword.
What we build is the scabbard.
Whatever you build, the place where it actually runs.
